Grandin, Temple Emergence: Labelled Autistic
Brilliant. Changed my thinking entirely. Temple is such a magical woman. The book follows her progress from non-verbal kid to obsessed teenager, trying to figure out how to meet her own sensory integration needs, to innovative adult who's championed animal rights and become the international expert on humane design of slaughterhouses.

Haddon, Mark The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time
(Novel) A tour-de-force. I've read it 3 times now, I think. Haddon so perfectly inhabits the character of this Asperger teen, with all his sympathetic quirks and immense talents, and severe limitations. Enthralling.(Not suitable for all kids. Bear in mind that Sasha will read anything, from low-brow comics to child psychology books for parents.)

Paradiz, Valerie Elijah's Cup: A Family's Journey into the Community and Culture of High- Functioning Autism and Asperger's Syndrome
The book that moved me from grief to understanding a new life--a rich one--can be happily lived with Asperger's Syndrome. Made me understand Asperger's and autism as "other" rather than as negative.
